Hunter
hunterNew owners sharing a story about their new Weimy, Hunter

Thanks to your organization we adopted Hunter (light grey in photo) July 5, 2008. He had several medical issues that were being treated when we got home and he was so afraid of people he would hide under my son's bed the first month we got him. We wanted Hunter to be a companion for our 12 yr old blue named Tally, and she was very confused by the shy behavior at first.

Well after the hookworm and heartworm treatment was over and we got Hunter over to our vet I am proud to say he is doing so much better as of today (October 2009). He has learned to come out of his shell, he looks forward to our daily walks (sometimes 2 if I can) whereas he never knew how to walk on a collar. He has a wonderful backyard that he and the neighbor dogs play everyday and he actually learned the "doggie door" lets him out to this wonderful world of squirrels' and other dogs.

I would say the best thing that has happened is he is Tally's best friend, they sleep together and play together. He is still shy to some but it is night and day. My son thinks Hunter is his brother and they both lay on the ground and cuddle. I wanted you to know how much we appreciate your organization and when Tally eventually leaves us (she is now 13) Hunter will need a friend.

Happy home

Just the kind of letter we love to get!

Hi Angie,
This is Diana and I wanted to send you a quick note to THANK YOU for helping us find such a wonderful dog. We adopted Abigail who is now know as Kiersey from Wonder Weims in the spring.
succAfter a window eating incident (remember?!?!?) I must admit that I was a bit skeptical. As you suggested, we keep her in her crate when we leave and since then, we have not had any other problems.
Kiersey is so calm and loving; she adds so much to our life! We have taken her camping and waterskiing & wakeboarding this summer and she is learning to love the boat. We are happy to report that she can swim (with and without her lifejacket)! She loves going on runs with us during the week and is getting pretty good at heeling on walks.
I have attached an older picture of Kiersey with Jim and I (i think it was around May) and will send you one of her on the boat when i get those pictures downloaded. thank you for helping us find such an amazing dog!

Gunner shoots straight to the heart!
gunnerAlthough this story starts out sad it has a happy ending! Earilier this year we had to put our 14 year-old English Pointer to sleep. We were heartbroken. Even though we still had 3 other rescue dogs we were missing something quintessential in our "pack"… a hound!

After a few months I was chatting with Amy at Pets in the City about our ensuing search for another dog. She mentioned weimaraner rescue. I explained  that I wasn't sure if we were ready for such a high energy dog and the potential behavioral issues. Well, I left the shop, returned home and immediately began looking at weims online.

We inquired about one little girl but she didn't seem to be the right fit for us. Then I spoke with Angie and she mentioned a little boy we might be interested in. We arranged a "meet and greet".  Up until meeting time all  I did was think about our potential new weim. It was love at first site! He was a big, beautiful, ninety pound, blue boy named Gunner.

He was all 11 months of puppy!  He had an air about him that said "I may be goofy and crazy, but I will be a beautiful, obedient, noble dog one day." So we loaded him in our Jeep and off we went to meet the rest of the pack. His sisters, who were adopted themselves, just assumed this was another temporary dog. They have since come to know that Gunner is permanent fixture in our household.

Gunner attended obedience training with Vera at Pets in the City and passed with flying colors. He has some allergy issues but we are working through those. He runs with his daddy several days a week and loves to go for a romp in the park nearby. He snuggles in bed at night while we watch tv and will promptly get in sleep position when told to do so (which is curled up behind my legs under the covers). He is the most amazing, loving and obedient dog we have ever had! Thanks Angie for bringing him into our lives, and Amy for suggesting a weim! We shall never be weim-less again

Take Me Home!

brutus8Brutus is a big lover! Very handsome 7 year old stocky silver male. He likes to put his head on your shoulder when you are driving. Brutus listens really well  and knows some basic obedience.  He is very smart and seems to learn really fast.  He’s great with the other dogs and kids. He is super laid back, but like most Weimys still needs to know who is in charge. If you want a Weimy that is glued to your side.. he's your boy!  He is crate and house trained. He is not destructive. STL MO
